The Transformer..!!

My brother Aayush has always been very kind hearted and nature loving. He had a special love for stray animals- the cows and the cows that would roam untamed around the colony I had lived in for the past twenty years. These very stray but actually pet animals of his would get special treats every evening because he would ask mom to prepare extra chapattis for them. Someone’s birthday or mom and dad’s wedding anniversary would make their nights a scrumptious banquet. He would distribute the meals equally among all the guests. And you know what.. dogs would be his priority coz cows are herbivores and have other options too. As they collected, he would start showering his affection on them and would get a scolding from me, if I am present at the moment, for touching those filthy creatures, house to pathogens and germs..!!

Did I tell you that Aayush is younger to me? Yes, he’s four years younger to me but his actions don’t match his age. Anyways, that’s not important in the story. He would touch them and then tease me by trying to touch me those hands and I would direct him: wash your hands properly or I’ll beat you. His favorite dog, which was specially and preferably fed by him, always used to escort him while he was on his evening walk. Whenever we heard some barks outside, or a council of dogs, I would tease him, “Aayush, your dear dogs are waiting for you..!!” well, this was the every evening and we enjoyed these meetings, until one day.

It so happened on my birthday. After the small family get together, he and I were as usual feeding his pets and he in his brattish attitude started pestering me, pretending that he’s touched those animals. I got so annoyed at last and when I resented and kicked him, it was accidentally and unintentionally his favorite brown skinned, brown-eyed dog that was the receptor. The impact was high; the loaf of bread fell off his mouth and I could feel tears rolling along his eyes. I was taken aback. Forgetting the heights of all hygiene, I caught the dog in my arms and constantly kept on apologizing till Aayush said, “look, he’s not listening.” That was truly a transformation coz the very next day, I got the dog treated and vaccinated and cleaned and showered and disinfected and anything and everything that could be done, was done. He was the new family member to accompany the four of us. ‘Transformer’ was what I named Aayush and he got the name ‘Speedy’ coz mine was a Speedy Transformation.
